Cosmically Unlucky was created by Robin after learning how to wrangle an embroidery machine. Robin has been creating art throughout their whole life, but only picked up machine embroidery in 2020. Robin is eternally grateful to the Hamilton Public Library service for having embroidery machines available for the public to learn on, and this is where they got their start. Some of our most popular patches were originally designed for the embroidery machines at the library!

Once Robin fell in love with the craft, they picked up a small second-hand computerized sewing machine with an embroidery attachment and began making more patches at home. Since then we have upgraded to a semi-professional embroidery machine which can support the larger, more intricate designs that Robin has cooked up!

Cosmically Unlucky's designs come from Robin's experiences of living all over Canada in pursuit of environmental work. Robin loves nature, computers and video games, and anything that could be considered weird.

Cosmically Unlucky's work is also supported by Cody, Robin's life partner. Cody's experience as a precision machinist has made him invaluable to the day-to-day operations of running embroidery machines. Cody provides assistance with any tasks that Robin needs help with, especially during the crunch of art market season! His bubbly personality shines at the vending table, where he easily makes friends with visitors young and old. He has been Robin's cheerleader since day one, and Cosmically Unlucky would not exist without him.
