Hello world! We’re alive!!
To make a long story short, we had some critical software issues that stymied us over the winter. We unfortunately had to pull out of the Geeky Gift Market event due to this. However this spring we began learning how to use a new software system, and now that we have it down we have been cranking out more patches than ever!
Robin made a series around the LRT trains of Edmonton, one of Robin’s favourite sights in town. Individual patches for each train are available, as well as a bundle for all three. It’s fun to compare the changes in LRT designs over time; Robin made sure you can appreciate as many design details as possible!
Thanks to the new software, Cody has also started to design and run his own original patches. His patches have been inspired by anime, emojis, and horror movies. His 90’s Moe Eyes patch is the first time variegated thread has ever been used at Cosmically Unlucky! No two eyes are identical.
By the way, how do you like the new frame on the LRT trains? We’ll be offering some of our favourite patches in frames at this year’s Strathearn Art Walk. Yes, we’ll be exhibiting again! We’ll be in almost the same location as last year, at Blue 3 near the far West entrance to the park. Our booth will be undergoing a redesign as we have made too many patches for our old cork board layout, so come say hi and check it out!
And for those who have been waiting on the robots from the last blog update…don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about them either!
Hello world! We have been hard at work over here at Cosmically Unlucky in the last two months (how is it already almost October?!).
We spent most of August cranking out patches for Strathearn Art Walk, which ended up being a smashing success! This was our third year at SAW, but our first year vending for the entire weekend. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to check out our booth! This was the first year we offered apparel upcycled with our patches, and we were very flattered by the overwhelmingly positive response :)
After recovering from SAW, Robin went back into work revising our website's backend. This has made it easier for us to add and edit pages, which will encourage us to post more frequent updates to the website. If the website doesn't look right, you may need to clear your cookies & cache to experience the new site layout as intended.
Finally, our next upcoming show is the Edmonton Holiday Geeky Gift Market, taking place at the Edmonton Expo Centre from November 21-23, 2025. Here's a sneak peek of what Robin is working on for the show:
The pink robot was originally designed and stitched out by Robin way back in 2020, but it never became an official Cosmically Unlucky design. Robin has been thinking about polishing this Haro-inspired design off for a while, and what better time to do it than the Geeky Gift Market? Robin also sketched out some other robot friends to give the original one some company!
See you at the Edmonton Holiday Geeky Gift Market!
